Evaluation 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Equipment

When I took my photography, I used some photography equipment such as;

Nikon D5100 DSLR camera to take my photos, whilst playing with settings I learnt how to use the manual focus and aperture to put a different effect upon my photography.

Camera tripod, I used this to steady my hand when taking pictures, and also when I wanted to take pictures from above or below.

Laptop, which allowed me to use the programmes bellow.

4

Computer Programmes.
I mostly used InDesign for creating my whole magazine, this included me learning how to import and place photographs from other places and also learning how to wrap text around photographs.

I also used Photoshop to edit some of my photographs, which included me using the magic wand tool to take a back ground out so I could put the feature of the photograph onto a different background.

I also used Picasa to edit my photographs, where I learnt to change the shadowing, highlights and the full light to create the bright and vibrate effect I put on my photographs.

I also used prezzi which is a presentation website online which allowed me to show my research and evaluation on there to put on to my blogger.

I also used blogger which allowed me to display all my research, photography, final pieces and evaluation all on my own blog.

I also used youtube which allowed me to post videos on to there to put alongside my evalution on my blogger.

Evaluation 5 - How did you attract/adress the audience?

Evaluation 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience I am focusing on varies from young children up to teenagers which would be mostly girls so the magazine would have to be very colourful and exciting because this would be the kind of thing children would look for and be interested in. it would also have to contain very interesting stories and the audiences favourite stars and celebrities. The genre of pop has many relationships with different people, it creates an emotional effect of the listeners and fans. People are able to relate to the music which makes the audience drawn to it. The pop genre takes a variety of tempos of the music, therefore slow songs would make an emotion attachment to people as the songs are generally more meaningful, whereas the fast up beat ones would still make an emotional effect but maybe more of a happy effect rather than sad. Pop is the most popular and the favourite kind of genre within the music industry in todays times with young girls and teenagers which is why I chose this genre as in my opinion it is the best one for the audience types as it is a huge well known genre with many people, with the majority being teens. This is the reason my particular target audience are teenagers and young girls as this genre is the one that would most appeal to them.

When talking about my target audience I need to take their style of music into consideration so I can apply their likes and dislikes into my magazine which would help attract a more of variety of people. Within this I have videoed two people who have a great interest in my genre of magazine to give me their over view of my magazine and how it would appeal to them being the target audience.

Evaluation 3 - What kind of media instituion might distribute your media product and why?

Evaluation 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I think that my magazine represents similar social groups to magazines such as TOP OF THE POPS and THE HITS magazine because the content in terms of photography style and written style is very similar, I'm going to use the two images above to explain this the one of the left is from TOTP magazine and the one on the right is from my magazine. First the positioning and also posture of all the models in both of the photographs are very similar; they both stand much slouched and not upright, this is to show the audience the attitude and personality side of the artists.
The gestures the pictures are again very similar, the first image has a sense of playfulness and really shows the attitude; which then occurs in my image on the right features the models looking mysterious and again bringing out the urban attitude. This shows the similarities between both of the photographs because it shows that the first magazine has an established feel in which the audience would have a connection with.
As for the angle and shot type of the photos, there is little difference, the first is an front eye-line shot as if you were standing right in front of them whereas the second one is more to the side creating the image of them turning to look at you which would create a connection between them and the audience. However, with the second image we can see that the camera has a slightly lower-angled shot.
The lighting for these photographs are both very similar as they use natural lighting as they were taken outside, the first image seems to have more light on the band which would suggest that it was taken outside in a field or along a street so the light is attracted to the faces, my photo however was taken underneath a bridge so there wasn’t a huge amount of light coming in but you can see that the light which focus’ on the front persons face and not the others this would be due to the positioning of the three girls.
The costumes in the two images are again pretty much the same. You can see that both bands are wearing leggings and a bright top with a jacket; this really brings in the target audience and shows social representation at its best. One thing to note in terms of different social groups is that fact that the group on the left are wearing a lot more designer stuff than the right which could change the social group through class but shouldn’t have a massive impact on it.
The makeup that is used in the photograph on the right is very similar to the left such as the red lipstick; this could make a huge impact on the social group as it would attract more of a stylish and girly group rather than a group of boys.

Evaluation 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challange forms and conventions of real media product?
